You can Do It Yourself easily in a few simple steps. All you need is a curling iron and some hair spray. But if you want to have a feathered haircut instead of just styling it, it is suggested that you only do it yourself when you

have some experience in cutting or else let an expert handle it.

Here is a step-by-step guide that you can follow to feather your hair.

Steps to Feather Your Hair

Step 1: Prepare Your Hair

If you want a feathered hairstyle with layers then you should first have a layered haircut.

And if you want an easy DIY feathered look for yourself then first and foremost wash your

hair and part them from the middle or sideways according to your preference

And now blow dry your hair to add a little volume.

Keep in mind not to air-dry your hair as this may make them look frizzy.

You can apply products as needed like you can apply some diffuser

if your hair is curly or if your hair is too straight and thin then apply some volumizing mousse.

Step 2: Styling your hair

To style your hair in this gorgeous 70s look start by applying some heat protection serum

as in the process of feathering your hair, you need to heat treat your hair with a curling iron

or straightening press so it is better to apply the serum before you start feather your hair.

Now, first of all, you need to part your hair into 4 sections. You can also divide by layers

But parting them into 4 sections will make it easy to manage your hair. Firstly, divide your hair

from the middle parting them into two equal halves, and clip your back hair in a way that only

your front shorter hair stays loose.

To feather your short hair take the curling iron and start feathering your hair from the front.

Place the curling iron almost an inch away from your hairline and roll your hair over the

curling iron from the top of it and curl your hair stretching away from your face will give

voluminous feathers around your face.

Now to do your back hair unclip them and clip the now feather front hair so you don’t mix up

all your hair. To feather long hair start from the bottom layer and place the heating iron around

2 inches away from your hairline and start feathering in the same way as you did with your front hair.

Repeating this process till your top layer of hair you will get beautiful feathered hair.

If you have bangs in front, feather them too in the same way. Remember not to make ringlets as they

will not give feathers but curls. And if you have short hair you can feather them too. Feather short

hair by placing a heating press near your hairline and curling them away from your face.

Step 3: Finishing Up

To finish up your 70s feathered hair look applies hair spray to maintain your hairstyle throughout the day.

After applying hair spray, smoothen your curls by running down your fingers in the length of your hair

and give a final touch-up to your feathered hair look. Don’t use a comb or hairbrush to smooth your curl

as feather hair doesn't need it.

Just touch up with your hands smoothing down any flyouts.

Now admire your look as you are ready to go out and slay with your Feather hairstyle.
